Preparing for launch so I don’t have a topic to write about right now. I figured I’d just free flow my thoughts. My earliest memory was when I was four years old, and I received a monster truck toy. I played with it for a few hours, then I gutted it. Trying to figure out how it worked. From that point, my mom swore to never buy me another toy.

Digital sovereignty is an interesting concept. Let’s analyze the identity of individuals. People exists in multiple realms of identity. Identity is defined by self, parents, community, government, and geography. Each individual is shaped by these factors, which result in the actions we take. Furthermore, the concept of divinity seems to have more to do with personal growth than with loyalty to any religious institution. We seem to use the divine as a way to thrive for perfection. In the Bible, God said, let us make man in our image. Image is used as in replication, man is an extension of the divine. This divinity set humans apart from wild animals. Man is more than body and mind, but a spiritual consciousness that expresses itself uniquely through each of us. Our consciousness is the gift of divinity, yet our data is just sold without our explicit consent? Our digital sovereignty is our consciousness expressed in a digital form. No corporation has a right to harvest it for profit. Seriously, how much is our consciousness worth? What about a portion of it? The obvious response to this hypothetical is if valuable tools are provided for us to use, don’t those platforms have a right to monetize each user it provides value to? When thinking about it, a tech company that provides free services in exchange for advertising dollars is themselves trapped by that model, and perhaps new tools can liberate both them and us from old-world monetization models.

Now let’s analyze the relationship between man and tools. In the kung fu movie, 8 Diagram Pole Fighter, the master teaches the student that the pole is an extension of his arms. This perspective informed my understanding of tools. Tools are extensions of our bodies. Cars are extensions of our feet, hammers and drills are extensions of our hands, and computers are extensions of our minds. The current state of computers has introduced us to 3 innovations that completely change the way we interact with the world. Artificial Intelligence gives us the ability to access new concepts and ideas that were never possible before. The blockchain gives us the ability to transfer value and attach value to digital properties. Our intellectual property can finally be owned by us and transferred between parties with our explicit acknowledgement. The metaverse allows us to interface in worlds created from our imagination or even procedurally generated from data points of new discoveries. The use cases of both Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality expands the concept of a computer beyond a laptop or even a smartphone. Glasses and contact lenses become the new way we interface with the world around us.

I was listening to a podcast between Jordan Peterson and Kyle Kulinsky on the Krystal Kyle and Friends podcast. Jordan Peterson brought up an interesting point that I still think about. His point was that just because something is new doesn’t mean it is necessarily good. Those familiar with innovative technologies are also aware of the criticisms. Artificial Intelligence may get too powerful to the point it enslaves the human race, blockchain could be hacked by quantum computers and the metaverse might become so immersive that people never want to leave. I don’t think that these issues should be avoided. They should be addressed head-on. Recently, an engineer at Google claimed that their AI was sentient. Google then fired him. I think that was a mistake on Google’s part, they should’ve allowed that engineer to validate his claims otherwise, people will think that Google is trying to hide their sentient AI. I think tech companies should be open to the public and tell us, “Hey Public, these are brand-new technologies we’re building, and we’re figuring some stuff out. Be patient.” I would be the most open tech CEO, ever. “Please remain calm. Medallion XLN has it under control.” As a Mecha, the size of a skyscraper, wrestles a Godzilla-type creature to the floor.
