scene from the war movie 1917 (2019)
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” - Sun Tzu, The Art Of War
Meta is the current king of the metaverse. That is the current reality. If we want to be the best, then we have to beat the best. Although Meta currently dominates this industry, it’s still anyone’s game. Meta is moving fast to try to do all the heavy lifting with base metaverse use cases. They want to be the go-to destination for all things metaverse-related. Meta is figuring out all the complicated implementations so that when the metaverse becomes unavoidable, they will be the ones who control access to the metaverse. They have been heavily investing in the Metaverse infrastructure for a few years now. I am team decentralization all the way, but I have to give credit where it’s due. Meta is making very impressive strides forward.

The significance of the Meta Quest 2 VR headset is that it is the world’s first all-in-one, easy to acquire, no setup VR headset. No wires or extra software to download. Just take it out of the box and start using it. Even though it has been released for a year and a half by the time of this article, it keeps getting better. The rule of 10 for product design states that it cost 10 times more to repair and replace parts for every subsequent phase of development. From inception to the customer. Considering how there has not been many complaints or recalls of the Meta Quest 2, demonstrates the quality of the product. With this product, Meta has been able to claim 80% of the VR market share. Meta has built the headset in a way that allows continuous improvements to the headset. Their recent addition of controller-less hand tracking is one of the many features Meta Quest 2 has inherited post-release. Very impressive for a software company. Next, they plan to release a premium VR headset that goes by the code name: Project Cambria. They plan to release 4 more headsets in the next 3 years.
Project Cambria is Meta’s first step into the next gen industry called invisible computing. Currently, if we want to interface with a computer we need a desktop monitor, keyboard, smartphone, or tablet. Physical hardware that allows us to interact with the power of a computer. Project Cambria will be a powerful AR/VR goggle that replaces all your hardware and allows you to do everything in the metaverse. Design graphics, program applications, draw ideas, watch TV, make phone calls, and play video games. At the moment, Cambria has the dimensions of ski goggles, but as time progresses Moore’s law guarantees that technology will become smaller and more powerful. The Meta Quest 2 served its purpose, which was to claim market dominance in the VR space. Project Cambria’s purpose is to claim market dominance in the computing space. It’s a mixed reality high-end headset that will cost around $900. This might sound high but compared to its competitors priced at $3,000, this is another page out of their playbook. Under-charge and over-deliver. Cambria will provide increased screen resolution with micro-LED lenses. The controllers will have cameras staring back you to implement full body tracking. A set of tools meant to help application developers build out the metaverse will also be included. Jeez, Mark Zuckerberg thought of everything.

It’s very important to understand the hardware aspect of the metaverse as well as the software applications. I like to plan for worst-case scenarios, and the possibility of Meta owning 100% of the Metaverse is terrifying. Nothing against Meta in particular, but relying on the goodwill of others lead to dystopia in all the Sci-Fi movies I’ve watched. That being said, it’s time to enter into hardware, guys! The Decentralized community should use all the money they have been raising recently to build a 10x Mixed Reality (MR) headset. Based on my research, all the top NFT projects know each other and collaborate frequently, so I would like to see them pool their resources and collaborate on VR & AR hardware. The best way to go about this would be to build a headset that is similar to Lego Blocks. The lenses, the base, the cameras & the sensors should all be sold separately. Each piece should be sold at varying levels of quality for as cheap as possible. Then it is up to the community to assemble the goggles how they see fit.
Don’t get greedy on this, or else we don’t stand a chance. Ship out the parts piece by piece with a QR code that links to a tutorial and suggests different ways to build out the MR goggles. This is a great application for generative NFTs that can create 10,000 variations of the goggles. Please don’t charge 21 ETH for each MR goggle. Make your money back on the applications. Mark Zuckerberg is smarter than all of us combined, and he owns the platforms that can reach 80% of the world’s population. Let’s not underestimate him. We have to use his playbook against him. I believe that this strategy will usher in an era of uncanny metaverse innovation. The decentralized community could probably claim 40% of the Metaverse market share if we can release quality products to compete with Big Tech.
The time has come, very soon, Medallion XLN will be releasing our ICO smart contract and begin fundraising from our community. The ideas that we have been providing in these articles are great, but nothing compared to what we have planned. The project that Medallion XLN is working on, is the next generation of the Blockchain. Fully decentralized and taking advantage of the best technology in the world to build an experience that secures our freedom and puts our digital sovereignty back in our hands.
Subscribe to Medallion XLN as we are building the next generation of technology using XR, Blockchain, AI, and the power of decentralization to reclaim our digital sovereignty.
