On Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 3:30 pm PST, the Kansa City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will meet in Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas to play Super Bowl LVIII. This will be only the eighth time in NFL history that two teams play each other in a rematch for the Lombardi Trophy. My hometown team is one of those eight. The Cincinnati Bengals. I’m a diehard Bengals fan. Who Dey! We played the 49ers in two of the best Super Bowls ever! However, the last two minutes of each game saw my Bengals fail to protect their lead. I literally threw something at my TV while swearing profusely. Two soul crushing losses to the 49ers. So, you can guess who I’m rooting for this year.
The Chiefs beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, 30-21. And they seem to have peaked at the right time to do it again. Patrick Mahomes is on fire! And Travis Kelce, my fellow University of Cincinnati Alumni, has already broken records this season. Speaking of records, you know where this is going. Rumor has it that a certain multi-Grammy winning recording artist will be in attendance. Yes, Usher will headline this year’s Super Bowl halftime show! He’s won eight Grammys and 19 Billboard Music Awards. He’s currently getting rave reviews for his Las Vegas residency. Usher also has numerous film credits, played the lead role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway musical Chicago, and was a judge on NBC’s The Voice. And he will be dropping his ninth studio album, Coming Home, on the same day as The Super Bowl! Now that’s great marketing by an even greater entertainer!
The advertisers are banking on the entertainment value of the Super Bowl. At a cost of $6.5 million to $7 million for a 30-second spot, time truly is money. And while it may seem insane to pay such a jaw dropping amount for a commercial, the viewership is incomparable. It’s estimated that 108 million viewers will be watching every snap, pass and kick. Or will they? Even though many non-football fans watch the Super Bowl for the commercials and the halftime show, they’re not the majority. And that majority will only watch the entire second half if it’s not a blowout. On the upside, the Super Bowl is the most watched telecast every year. So show me the money!
With ticket prices starting at just under $6000, and the multi-million dollar commercials, the Super Bowl will be overflowing with money. Super Bowl parties will out number the cat videos on social media. Pizza and wings will be consumed like tacos on Tuesdays. There are crazy deals on the largest flat screens you can fit through your door. But pump the brakes, baby! Who needs a bigger TV when you can watch the biggest game of the year on Apple Vision Pro. Why do you think they went on sale the week before the Super Bowl? Just in time to purchase for the ultimate viewing party. According to an article from Sportico, with ESPN, Fox, NBC, CBS and others making their apps compatible with the platforms, early adopters will have plenty of viewing options on Vision OS, including the Super Bowl on Paramount+. Put on your Apple Vision Pro, and you’ll have the best seat in the stadium. On the largest screen. Without the $6000 price tag!
However, you chose to watch the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a great game. And while 108 million viewers is staggering, it wouldn’t be the most watched Super Bowl. But this number could increase dramatically. Because there is Bad Blood between these two teams. Trust Me! I know All Too Well that records could be shattered. Listen up analyst and high rollers, You Need To Calm Down and Shake It Off. Because the most watched flight this season is a 12-hour flight from Japan to Las Vegas. Arriving just in time for the Super Bowl. And that flight will deliver a rare ratings phenomenon. The matriarch of the Swifties, Travis Kelce’s better half, the Chief’s muse, the darling of the NFL, the incredibly talented megastar Taylor Swift. The Super Bowl is going to be lit!
I’m a huge football fan. And I can’t wait to watch the Chiefs and 49ers do battle. Because leaving it all on the field is the only way to secure a victory. And raise the Lombardi Trophy. But as a creative you should never have to battle over rights to your own creation. At Medallion XLN, our mission is to make sure you never have to do so. Our mission is to enable creatives to monetize and control how their assets are distributed and accessed. Please feel free to reach out for more information about Medallion XLN.
