Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory.

But the draw backs are how it would affect our perception of the world

Jenny hardings's avatar

It could probably even trigger schizophrenia in some individuals who might have the underlying genetic traits

Arceus spots Ash and recognizes him due to history's alterations, and reverses the destruction it caused and heals its former adversaries.

Arceus has the ability to create Legendary Pokémon as well. It is said that it designed Dialga, Palkia and Giratina, as well as Pokémon's lake guardians Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit.

Virtual Reality (VR) is a computer-generated environment with scenes and objects that appear to be real, making the user feel they are immersed in their surroundings.

Expand full comment
Graham potter's avatar

The most obvious risk involves injuries caused by blundering into real objects while immersed in VR. But there's growing concern about more subtle health effects. Many people report headaches, eye strain, dizziness and nausea after using the headsets.

Bumping into real world objects is the most common problem with users of VR abd AR tech

I think that is an important aspect of how the metaverse should work. A mix of augmented reality and virtual reality

Expand full comment
Denise jagovich's avatar

Mixed Reality is a hybrid of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. In MR you have computer-generated or digitally created graphics blended with your real-world view.

Expand full comment
Graham potter's avatar

In a nutshell, augmented reality is an enhanced reality that projects computer-generated images over a user's view of the physical world, while mixed reality is the enhanced form of augmented reality that brings the best of both the worlds.

Expand full comment
Jenny hardings's avatar

Mixed reality serves as a hybrid of both AR and VR. I feel that's what Zuckerberg is trying to accomplish with the metaverse

Expand full comment
Jenny hardings's avatar

It's however still in its early stages though

Expand full comment
David shire's avatar

Yeah. What she said😂

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

So this is what they plan to use for the design of the metaverse I presume

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

But how pray tell would they pull it off?

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

AR and VR are quite different from each other. Mixing them together would nullify each of their unique qualities

Expand full comment
Graham potter's avatar

Yes! Together, augmented reality, robotics, and virtual reality can be the 'Three Amigos. ' VR and AR can offer an immersive medium to operate robots. With the help of low-latency networks, people can utilize robots remotely using intuitive AR and VR controls.

Joseph custer's avatar

Kayode oyelowo's avatar

How is it now that people are noticing how cool augmented reality is?

Expand full comment
Denise jagovich's avatar

AR enhances both the virtual and real world while VR only enhances a fictional reality.

Expand full comment
David shire's avatar

Yeah. Basically

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

How so?

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

I'm just curious to know the mechanism of how it would work while still preserving it's uniqueness

Expand full comment
Graham potter's avatar

But mixed reality offers the ability to interact with digital data and with the real world in the same context and time frame.

Expand full comment
Jenny hardings's avatar

Not many people are actually aware of it fam. Especially in the coastal regions

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

Yeah. It isn't readily available in many developing countries

Expand full comment
Graham potter's avatar

Augmented reality has proven useful in actual interventions, presenting data that a surgeon or interventionalist can use during the actual procedure.

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

Yeah. Those are very helpful applications

But I fear the draw backs would be too great to take the risk

I personally feel the best way to prevent people from being disconnected from reality once the metaverse launches is by limiting the amount of time spent using it

Expand full comment
Joseph custer's avatar

If one uses it every second of everyday, they can be prone to addiction and it would be near impossible to leave it. However if there was a time limit of a few hours a day or a couple of days a week, the mental health risks to consumers would be considerably less.
